I love Charlotte's Web , but kids should also meet Louis the mute swan who gains a voice and a love. And if you liked Make Way For Ducklings (another favorite of mine) you'll recognize one of the settings......

Not a young child's book at all,but a beautifully written book about friendship, greed, self centeredness and love.
The best illustrations are by Ernest Shepherd. He was also the first (and only REAL!) illustrator of Winnie the Pooh!

Polluting the Blogosphere
There is a guy out there calling himself "Enviroman" who is putting comment spam on lots of blogs to try to drive traffic to his own site where he can talk piously about making this a clean, green planet for us all.
Well, start at home, boychik. You are polluting the blogosphere with your spam comments!
Particularly when you are insensitive enough to add a spam comment to my last blog entry, which wasn't exactly about a frivolous subject!
And BTW, thank you to those of you who have made relevant comments on that entry. Your sympathies are much appreciated.......
Unfortunately, there's no EPA for the blogosphere, so it is up to the residents to take care of mamzers like this ourselves.
If you get spam from this guy, report it. And make sure to go to his website(s) and let him know you're ticked about what he's doing.
"Enviroman" needs to clean up his act. Or he may find he's become and endangered species...............
