The girls are off this week so today I took SC and JR shopping in my favorite recreational supermarket, Wegmans.
If you don't have Wegmans in your part of the world, picture a very good supermarket with an excellent produce section and a fabulous international foods section. Then add a "food hall" area with a bakery, fancy deli, regular deli, Jewish deli, gourmet cookies, chocolates and an out of this world seafood section. Tack on a wine department and a gourmet cheese section, plus olive and dips bar. Offer a section with gourmet cookware and fancy table linens where you can serve all that food.
Toss in a sub sandwich counter, pizza, a Chinese food buffet, a soup and salad area and a sushi counter. Put a balcony area upstairs where you can eat (or just sit) and where the rest rooms are as fancy as a fine hotel. Finish with a model train running on tracks overhead and you've got Wegmans.
As I said, this is my recreational store. .......
So we were by the deli counter and SC was trying to get up to the case to look at something. She was getting too close to someone--a bad habit and I was about to warn her off, when the lady turned around and said:
"Your daughter has manners! She's so polite--she said "excuse me please". You're a great mom!"
Well, most of the time I sure don't think so!
But it's nice to hear. And it's nice to know that SOME of what we've been trying to teach our girls is actually working...........................
