We are having our dear friend "Miss Lynne" the dance teacher and her husband over for New Year's Eve. She threw a major Christmas Eve dinner--the Italian seafood type and has lots of leftover goodies. Since her kids are grown and JR needs to go to bed early, she suggested they come here.
We're delighted because we adore Lynne and I really like her husband though we don't know him well. And we consider her as family that just isn't related by blood (just like you and yours, Beth--Happy New Year, sweetie!) so it's not like REAL company.
But our house is a mess and with all the Man's junk, this place isn't the best place to entertain even family!
So I'm trying to straighten up a bit--have been all week between dentist appointments and other holiday fun.
And we're cooking. Filipino noodles with meat and veggies (pancit canton) has always been a New Year's dish for us and Lynne and Anthony love it. I'm also attempting lumpia-- small Filipino egg rolls, which I'll report on and give the recipe for if it works!
I made cheesecake, but I made it in mini-cupcake pans, so they're tiny bite sized treasures. I need them for the Hanukah party at work this week as well. The same for the ruggelach I'm baking.
The food will be good, and they're bringing champagne. I get to use all our pretty blue flower dishes, including the pretty new sushi set my brother's wife gave us--perfect for the lumpia.
We'll be with friends, and it'll be fun!
So Happy New Year's Eve to all of you. May you be with good friends, eating good food and having good times tonight.
See you in 2006!
