Not a young child's book at all,but a beautifully written book about friendship, greed, self centeredness and love.
The best illustrations are by Ernest Shepherd. He was also the first (and only REAL!) illustrator of Winnie the Pooh!

It is the Frugal Gourmet's recipe, and I am in total agreement with one of my favorite TV cooks, Alton Brown, on this. I don't care what the man did in his personal life. When it came to cooking, he knew his stuff.
Except maybe for Filipino food. We don't like his adobo--it's not a patch on what my in-laws make!
The recipe is excellent. It is also easy as easy can be--ten minutes with a food processor and it's ready to bake. And it will NOT crack!
BUT--- here is the secret that will make it infamous. Ready?
Are you sure?
Really, really, sure?
Okay, here it is:
ADD 1 teaspoon of lemon juice (fresh or bottled) as you add the vanilla.
Make this and people will be wildly impressed. Give it as gifts and they will adore you.
Eat and enjoy it as my family will be doing today.......
